Volunteer for Online Legal Assistance Clinic
- In recognition of Law Day 2019,DCBA attorney members are invited to participate in a Free Legal Answers Workshop, Monday, April 29th from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM in the Attorney Resource Center. Attorneys will be trained on how to answer questions posted on the Illinois Legal Answers Online platform. This workshop is in place of the Ask a Lawyer Day held on a Saturday in previous years. Attorneys will receive CLE eligible training on how to answer family and housing law questions on the Illinois Legal Answers Online platform and then select questions to answer. This workshop is being held in conjunction with the Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI). Full details and the registration form are on the PILI website at pili.org/event/18th-legal-answers-clinic. You will need to register with IL.freelegalanswers.org before the workshop and need to bring a laptop or tablet on which you can access the internet.

April Happy Hour Returns to Warrenville- Join fellow DCBA members April 18th at the monthly DCBA Happy Hour. Enjoy complimentary appetizers and beverages at Rock Bottom Brewery, 25286 Diehl Road in Warrenville. The spotlight turns this month to our members practicing in the area of personal injury and insurance litigation. We will be joined by our Host, OVC Marketing for Lawyers, and our April sponsors Lexitas and ADR Systems. RSVP on the DCBA Website for a chance to win the door prize from our Member Advantage Partner Nothing Bundt Cakes.

Mullen Memorial Golf League –
With the weather taking a turn for the better, the Mullen Memorial Golf League has launched for the 2019 season!This league is named in honor of the late Terry Mullen, a highly respected DCBA member and Director who, with DCBA Past President Kent Gaertner, was instrumental in originally getting the idea of weekly play among DCBA members off the ground. This year, the league will play on Wednesdays or Thursdays each week with 9-hole tee times, typically between 3:15 PM and 4:00 PM, and a brief gathering after the round to network or catch up with friends. Weekly participation is not expected, and drop-in players are welcome. To be added to the distribution list for announcements of the weekly locations and tee times, please send an e-mail to DCBA President Matt Pfeiffer atmatt@pfeifferlawoffices.com.

Kane vs. DuPage Hockey Friendly Rat Skate - Come out to skate or spectate at the Fox Valley Ice Arena (1996 S Kirk Rd, Geneva, IL),April 25th from 3:00 PM - 4:20 PM. This will be “private rat” with 15 skaters minimum, 30 maximum at $20/skater. Anyone that is part of the judicial system, judges, attorneys, clerks, sheriffs, and personnel are all welcome to come out. DuPage Bar Foundation 2019-2020 Scholarships Available - The DBF is accepting applications for its 2019-2020 scholarships (DBF Ambassador Scholarships, William J. Bauer Scholarship, Woodruff, Johnson and Evans Scholarship, and the Elsie Lemmen Memorial Scholarship). The DBF Board awards these scholarships annually to law students who have completed one full year (24 credit hours) of law school and reside in, or have an established connection to DuPage County. The scholarship application is available on the DBF website or by e-mail request to ebertsche@dcba.org. The DBF Scholarship Committee will review applications and conduct interviews in May. Scholarships will be awarded at the June 7th Presidents Ball and Installation. Please share this information and encourage law students to apply by the May 1st deadline.


New Lawyer Lunch with a Judge April 15th - New Lawyers practicing three years or less are invited to join in a unique opportunity to meet and have lunch with two judges! Judge Ann Celine O’Hallaren Walsh and Judge Bryan S. Chapman will be our special guests for the April installment of the New Lawyer Lunch with a Judge program. This event, planned for noon on April 15th in the Chief Judge’s Conference Room, is open to new lawyers only and there is a capacity of 12 attendees. There is no MCLE credit as this is strictly a round-table discussion with the judges to help new lawyers transition to the courtroom. Register online at DCBA.org to reserve your space today (a $10 fee will be collected at registration to secure the reservation).
