Information to better prepare speakers at a DCBA Educational Program.

DCBA members can earn 1 hour of free MCLE or PRMCLE credit at monthly section meetings. Presentations must include significant intellectual, educational or practical content that increases participant’s competency as an attorney and deals primarily with matters related to the practice of law. Bar Association Meetings take place at noon and the date varies based on each section.
We no longer provide paper handouts to meeting attendees, all handouts are provided electronically.

DCBA Seminars are MCLE or PRMCLE  presentations over one hour in length and  are in- depth presentations on a particular topic related to the practice of law. Members and non-members are charged a fee to attend a seminar.

DCBA’s Annual Education Day “Mega Meeting" is a daylong event in January featuring multiple hours of MCLE and PRMCLE credits and the opportunity to host local exhibitors.  Attendees can connect with various areas of legal practice with engaged presenters and network with colleagues.

To learn more about these programs, please contact Janine Komornick at or 630-653-7779 ext. 115.

If you are a business or organization interested in presenting at a 1 hour Bar Association Section Meeting or a multi- hour Seminar, please submit the following form to DCBA Continuing Education Manager, Janine Komornick at

The DCBA has built 4 PowerPoint templates in order to assist you in developing your PowerPoint presentation slides. Feel free to use one of the following templates for your presentation:

Tips for Creating Effective Presentations:

1. Minimize the number of slides.

2. Choose a font style and size your audience can read from a distance.

3. Keep your text simple, minimize text and keep bullet points to a minimum per slide.

4.  Slides with multiple paragraphs of text have shown to significantly decrease your audience's attention, and thus the effectiveness of getting your message across.

5.  Text heavy slides tells the audience to read directly off the slides and stop listening to you, the presenter.

6. Make slide backgrounds simple. What you see on your computer may not project the same way.

5. Arrive early to test any videos or links to the internet.
