DCBA is revitalizing the Speaker's Bureau and invites you to gain some valuable information on good presentation skills and consider joining the Speaker's Bureau.  Speakers Bureau members are available to speak for community organizations, schools, etc about legal issues, a legal career, etc.


Presentation Description: 

The focus of this practice-oriented workshop is development of practical presentation and public speaking skills that will make attorneys more persuasive when speaking within the community about legal issues, the importance of hiring an attorney, what a career in law is like, etc. Emphasized are practical skills and techniques that communicate one's expertise and credibility in a dynamic way that holds the audience's attention. Also discussed are common mistakes and sources of anxiety and concern for presenters and strategies for avoiding and managing them. The effective use of demonstratives, exhibits, and other visual aids is addressed.


Dan Wolfe, JD, PhD is Senior Vice President of DecisionQuest, Inc., a trial consulting and strategic communications firm. A jury consultant and researcher since 1986, he has been in the national spotlight on numerous occasions for his work on high-profile criminal and civil cases involving celebrities and professional athletes. He has appeared as a commentator on both local and national talk shows and has been quoted in a wide range of media, including national publications such as The National Law Journal, Lawyers Weekly, Newsweek, and USA Today. He has authored many articles and book chapters on the subjects of juries, juror perceptions, ethics in trial consulting, and the interrelation of attorney gender and courtroom bias. Dr. Wolfe has over 25 years of jury consulting research experience and has worked on over 1,500 cases.

Lunch will be provided for those that pre-register.  Only DCBA members receive MCLE credit for lunchtime programs.
