The Illinois Pregnancy Accommodation Act

Audience Skill Level: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced

The presentation will discuss the Illinois Pregnancy Accommodation Act which became effective January 1st, 2015. It will address the rights and requirements established by the statute, its significant lack of clarity in various areas of application, and encourage discussion among attendees of the practical issues the Act will create for units of government and other employers.

Jim Knippen is a partner in the law offices of Walsh, Knippen, Pollock & Cetina who specializes in complex litigation, including personal injury, professional negligence, chancery and business litigation. He also represents units of local government such as the City of Wheaton, Village of Roselle and the Forest Preserve of DuPage County. His work in the personal injury area has included representing both plaintiffs and defendants. He has co-counseled multi-million dollar settlements and verdicts and is a specialist in the creation and use of demonstrative exhibits.

Mary E. Dickson is a founding partner of Bond, Dickson & Associates, P.C., located in Wheaton. The Firm concentrates its practice in the field of local government representation. Over her twenty-three years of experience as an attorney, Ms. Dickson has represented clients in both the federal and state trial courts and appellate courts. She has served, since 2005, as the Inspector General for the Clerk of the Circuit Court of the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit.
