Title: Practical and Legal Issues in Raising Private Equity Capital

Date: Thursday, May 29th at noon in the Attorney Resource Center at the Courthouse

Based on real-life successes and failures in fundraising, Attorney Michael P. Cannon will explore how to your client’s business can succeed in raising private equity funding with guidelines on where to look and how to go about the process. The outline of the discussion is as follows:

·         The Federal & State Private Offering Registration Exemptions

·         Federal & State Broker-Dealer Exemptions

·         Venture Capital vs. Angel Investors

·         Individual Angel and Angel Group Investing

·         The Fundraising Process

Michael is an entrepreneurial finance executive and lawyer with over 30 years of broad corporate finance and legal experience in both early-stage and publicly-traded companies, and has recently formed VestEdge Consulting to provide legal and financial consulting services to entrepreneurial growth companies. Over his career he has closed a wide variety of corporate finance and commercial transactions for both public and private companies, but his particular expertise (and enjoyment) is in working closely with a seasoned executive teams in helping them successfully design, fund, manage and grow their businesses.

This program may qualify for up to one hour of CLE credit.  Attendees must be a member of DCBA in order to receive credit.  There is no cost for this meeting, but you must pre-register to receive lunch and program handouts.
