*Topic:  Your Best Thinking in the Worst Situations - Proven Strategies for Managing Stress

Stress for practicing attorneys is standard fare; it’s a natural consequence of the legal profession and current day practice for most.  But our thinking and decision making in stressful situation can make a difficult situation more troublesome, or our decisions can help produce better outcomes form such situations.

This presentation will help delineate the most common errors in thinking / decision-making when under stress, and provide practical, proven approaches to avoiding these errors and achieving better outcomes. 

Tony Pacione, LCSW, CSADC, joined the Illinois Lawyers’ Assistance Program (LAP)  in November 2013, as its Clinical Director, bringing a wealth of experience as a clinician and program director in the addiction and mental health treatment field since 1982. Tony has provided treatment and consultation services for many attorneys over the last 10 years.
Tony has worked at well-known, innovative addiction treatment programs in the Chicago area such as Humana-Michael Reese HMO, Rush University Medical Center, Advocate Addiction Treatment Program, and Harborview Recovery Center. Tony has successfully integrated evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness based stress reduction, and motivational enhancement therapy, with time-honored 12-step self-help treatment approaches.

Tony is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois and a Certified Supervisor Addiction Counselor. He holds a Master of Social Work and a Master in Education degrees from Washington University in St. Louis.
