Volunteers need at the Northern Illinois Food Bank

If you would like to volunteer with Lawyers Lending a Hand, contact Edna Wollenberg and let her know you are coming.  You can send her an email message at

The next Lawyers Lending a Hand volunteer event is next Thursday, April 30th at the Northern Illinois Food Bank.  Our shift runs from 5:00 – 7:00 at their Geneva Center (273 Dearborn Court, Geneva, IL 60134).

In light of the pandemic, this is an important event to the community.  Food rots when not dispersed.  The hungry will go hungry if they are not fed.

The Northern Illinois Food Bank has been identified as an “essential business” to continue our operations during the “Shelter in Place” order for Illinois. Volunteers are also exempt from this order and are more important than ever to help pack and distribute food.

Please note: The Geneva Center learned early this week that one of their team member had tested positive for COVID-19.  This team member was last in the center on April 10th.  Immediate action was taken under the direction of the CDC and Kane County Health Department to ensure the safety of all workers and volunteers.  You can read more on the food bank's website about all the steps taken.

Volunteers will be following the CDC recommendations and practice social distancing.

In light of the pandemic, all volunteers will be asked to sign our Volunteer & Visitor Health Statement upon arrival to our Center or at an offsite distribution.  Please review this first, before registering.

To register for this event:
