Elder Law MCLE Meeting

Speaker: Anique K. Drouin - Sullivan Taylor Gumina & Palmer, PC

Have you run into a situation where a client may need a divorce? What if that client has a guardian of their person or estate, or needs a guardian? Perhaps you are working with a client to do some long-term care planning and determine that a divorce may be necessary for your client? There are special considerations in a divorce action when one spouse needs or has a guardian of their person/estate, and experienced divorce attorney Anique Drouin will give an overview of these issues and information for you to take into your practice as you help your clients navigate these complex waters.

Attendees will increase knowledge of:

1. Divorce Basics—grounds for divorce, jurisdictional requirements, venue.

2. When and how a person who has a guardian may file or defend against a divorce action.

3. What are primary issues to consider in a divorce action and what must be included in a Judgment.

4. Uncontested Divorce versus Contested Actions.

Time: 11:45 am to 1:00 pm

Location: Attorney Resource Center (Third Floor of the DuPage County Courthouse)
