Immigration Law MCLE Meeting

Speaker: Ericka A. McFee

Summary: Congratulations, you are now the owner or manager of a company, and you are hiring employees, some of whom are citizens of the U.S., and some are not. You want to make sure you minimize your risk of violating any number of statutes or regulations that come with being an employer. But it’s more than just HR and payroll, especially when you have employees that are not US citizens. Come and learn what you need to know especially now that the government is cracking down on so called “illegals”

Attendees will increase knowledge of:

1. What employers need to know about employing anyone (non-US citizens and citizens alike)

2. 1-9 overview, E-verify, and the Social Security Administration

3. Government inspection and enforcement mechanisms.

4. Audits, Fines, and Employers’ Recourse

Time: 11:45am to 1:00 pm

Location: Attorney Resource Center (Third Floor of the DuPage County Courthouse)

Credits: 1 Credit MCLE

The Immigration Law Section will have an “Open Forum” right before each MCLE Meeting, in a safe non-judgmental place where new and experienced attorneys can brainstorm about a pending case, new case law and everything else in between! All are welcome at 11:00 AM.
