Title: Handling a DUI Case from the Phone Call to the Disposition


Summary of Topic: Attendees will learn how to handle a DUI matter from the initial phone call with a potential client until the resolution of the case. DUI matters are unique and have important deadlines. DUI matters also have evidentiary considerations and potential hearings all during the pre-trial stage of the case. Attendees will also learn how to properly work up a DUI matter and present the case in the best possible matter.  


Learning Objectives: 

1.) Attendees will learn about special considerations and deadlines when handling DUI matters including walking through a case from start to finish.

2.) Attendees will learn what information is critical to gather from the client, starting with the initial phone call.

3.) Attendees will learn how to handle discovery issues specific to DUI cases.

4.) Attendees will learn about specific sentencing guidelines as well as consequences with driving privileges related to summary suspensions.


As a reminder only DCBA members will receive MCLE credit for this presentation.
