DuPage County Bar Association's Defensive Driving Course Receives National Safety Council Award

Meets requirements for Traffic Court supervision; classes also offered in Spanish

WHEATON, Illinois - The DuPage County Bar Association Driver Improvement School has earned the National Safety Council's "Outstanding Service Award." The award recognizes exemplary safety programs and will be presented November 4, 2006, at the NSC's 94th Annual Congress and Exposition in San Diego.

The DCBA offers a six-hour defensive driving course four times per month. In addition to classes taught in English, one class is offered in Spanish each quarter. The DCBA is a certified Defensive Driver School Training agency for the National Safety Council.

Successful completion of the driver safety program is usually required to satisfy conditions of Traffic Court supervision, as a supplement to Secretary of State licensing hearings, and to meet provisions of certain insurance policies. Some insurance companies provide rate reductions to drivers or their employees upon completion of the course. The program is also designed to assist Spanish-speaking residents before applying for an Illinois driver's license. The fee for the course is $90.

For program information, contact Chris Reed at (630) 665-6530 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
