Chuck Roberts of Wheaton installed as President of the DuPage County Bar Association

Other DCBA officers installed include Glenn Gaffney of West Chicago as President-elect;
Fred Spitzzeri of Naperville as 2nd V.P.; and Tom Else of Naperville as 3rd V.P.

WHEATON, Illinois - Attorney Keith E. "Chuck" Roberts, Jr. of Wheaton was installed as President of the DuPage County Bar Association for the 2005-2006 term at the annual installation of officers and directors on Tuesday, June 7, at the Wyndham Drake Oak Brook.

In remarks to several hundred of the DCBA's 2,000 member attorneys and their guests, Roberts said: "Each lawyer has an obligation to the profession, to return something of value to the community, and to be civil and professional. The DuPage County Bar Association has kept us well-versed in professionalism, civility and the obligations of the profession. Some members of this association will travel to Washington, D.C., this fall to be admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court. We also will sponsor a Boot Camp for lawyers in March."

Roberts is a partner in the Wheaton law firm of Roberts & Associates. He concentrates his practice in commercial litigation and family law.

In 2004, Roberts was appointed to the American Bar Association House of Delegates, the governing body of the country's largest legal professional association. He served on the DCBA's Board of Directors from 2000 until 2002, when he was elected Third Vice President. He also has chaired the Lawyer Referral Service and Planning Committees. He has been vice chair of the DuPage County Legal Aid Foundation, and also served on the Judiciary Committee.

Chuck Roberts was raised in Naperville, Illinois. He is a graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and received his J.D. from Northern Illinois University College of Law. He was admitted to practice in Illinois in 1983. The father of three, he and his wife, Linda, reside in Wheaton.

DCBA Vice Presidents and Directors

Other officers installed include: Glenn R. Gaffney of West Chicago as President-Elect (President for the 2006-2007 term), Alfred A. Spitzzeri of Naperville as Second Vice President (President for the 2007-2008 term), and Thomas A. Else of Naperville as Third Vice President (President for the 2008-2009 term).

Also appointed were John A. Pleviak of Glen Ellyn as Secretary-Treasurer; James F. McCluskey of Batavia as Assistant Treasurer; Robert E. Jones of Wheaton as General Counsel; and Thomas H. Ryerson of Glen Ellyn as Associate General Counsel.

Three elected members of the DCBA's 15-member Board were installed: Mark W. Monroe of Batavia; Steven M. Ruffalo of Wheaton; and Kent A. Gaertner of Aurora. Stacey A. McCullough of Naperville was appointed by the Board of Directors to the remaining one-year director term formerly held by Mr. Else.

Award Recipients

The DCBA's Ralph A. Gabric Award in recognition of leadership and professionalism was presented to James F. McCluskey.

The Lawyer of the Year Award was presented to Clifford M. Carney in recognition of his many years of distinguished leadership and meritorious service to the bar association and legal community.

Receiving Retiring Board Awards were Elizabeth A. Boddy, Vincent F. Cornelius, Thomas G. Kenny and Sharon R. Knobbe.

Board of Directors Awards were presented to Judge Rodney W. Equi, Mazyar Malek Hedayat, Patrick Hurley, Barbara A. Preiner and DuPage County Board Chairman Robert J. Schillerstrom.
