Christine M. Ory of Lisle named "Lawyer of the Year" by the DuPage County Bar Association

WHEATON, Illinois - The DuPage County Bar Association has presented Christine M. Ory of Lisle with its "Lawyer of the Year" award in recognition of her many years of distinguished leadership and meritorious service to the bar association and legal community.

James F. McCluskey, outgoing President of the DCBA, said, "On behalf of our entire membership, I am proud to name Chris Ory as Lawyer of the Year for 2002. In addition to many years of valuable service to the bar including a distinguished term as DCBA president four years ago, she has worked tirelessly to improve the standing of our profession both in and beyond the DuPage legal community."

Ory is a native of Naperville and a 1972 graduate of Naperville Central High School. She worked full-time while attending night school for eleven years to obtain her bachelor's and law degrees. She received her J.D. from John Marshall Law School in 1986 and a B.A. in Business from North Central College in 1981. She also attended the College of DuPage.

A member of the DCBA since 1986, Ory served as President for 1998-1999. She also served as a vice president for three years and on several DCBA committees including Admissions & Membership, Law Day, Judges' Nite, Entertainment and Younger Lawyers.

Ory has been a partner in the Wheaton law firm of Gabric, Millon & Ory, Chtd. since 1993, where she began as an associate in 1992 under her mentor, Ralph A. Gabric. Her practice is concentrated in workers compensation. From 1986 to 1992, Ory was an associate in the Wheaton law firm of Peregrine, Stime, Newman, Ritzman & Bruckner, Ltd. Prior to this, Ory served in various capacities handling workers compensation and claim matters for Hartford Insurance Group and The CNA Insurance Companies.

In addition to serving as a member of the DCBA board of directors since 1991, Ory has been an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association since 1986. Since 1994 she has served as a member of both the ISBA's Assembly as well as the Workers Compensation section, where she was appointed secretary in 1998. She has been a trustee of the ISBA's LAWPAC since 1993. In addition, Ory has also been a member of the Illinois Workers Compensation Lawyers Association since 1987.
