"Ask a Lawyer" at No Cost on Saturday, April 29

WHEATON, Ill. - Any DuPage County resident with a question about a legal matter may speak with an experienced attorney at no cost from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2006. Residents should call (630) 653-7779 for a free consultation with a lawyer volunteer.

The 23rd annual "Ask a Lawyer Day" is part of the Law Day observance in Illinois sponsored by the DuPage County and Illinois State bar associations. Bar associations in Cook, Kane, Lake and Will Counties will also participate in this public service.

Lawyer volunteers will be on hand to answer general questions about consumer issues, family law, estate planning, personal injury, and other legal situations affecting individuals. Callers will be advised of steps they can take to resolve their legal problems. If legal assistance is required, callers will be advised to seek an attorney. Those without access to a lawyer will be forwarded to the DuPage Lawyer Referral Service at (630) 653-9109.

The DuPage Lawyer Referral Service operates year-round to assist people in need of legal services who do not have an attorney. Participating lawyers provide an initial consultation of up to 30 minutes at no charge to determine each client's legal needs. The DCBA's online Find a Lawyer service is located at: www.dcba.org/publicaccess/PadResults.asp.
