DCBA Executive Director Glenda Sharp designated Certified Association Executive by American Society of Association Executives

Willowbrook resident earns distinction held by less than five percent of association professionals

WHEATON, Ill. - The American Society of Association Executives announced that Willowbrook resident Glenda Berg Sharp, Executive Director of the DuPage County Bar Association since 2001, has earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential for demonstrated skill in leadership, activity in community affairs, and expertise in association management.

Sharp served with the American Bar Association in Chicago from 1977 to 2001, including Director of the 10,000-member Family Law Section from 1987 to 2001. She served on the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of DuPage County Board of Directors from 1995 to 1997 and 2002 to 2004. An active member of Association Forum of Chicagoland, she also is a member of the National Association of Bar Executives. Sharp received her undergraduate degree from Purdue University in 1976.

CAE applicants must accrue a minimum number of years of experience in nonprofit management, complete multiple hours of specialized professional development, pass a stringent examination in association management that tests basic knowledge of all areas of the profession, and pledge to uphold a code of ethics. Less than five percent of all association professionals have achieved this distinction. Worldwide, approximately 3,000 association professionals currently hold the CAE credential.

The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) is the leading authority in association management and the professional society for those who work in the association industry. Its 22,000 members manage trade associations, professional societies, and nonprofit organizations, as well as companies that support the association community.
