DuPage County Bar Association
Unveils Enhanced Lawyer Referral Service Public service includes 30-minute free consultation with local attorney;
referral fee eliminated
WHEATON, Ill. - Effective January
1, 2005, the DuPage County Bar Association has revamped its Lawyer Referral
Service, which refers people to local attorneys with expertise in specific
areas of law.
Prospective clients may telephone the LRS
at 630-653-9109 to request a referral. If the caller chooses to make an
appointment with the attorney, the first half-hour of consultation is
free. There is no obligation to hire the attorney referred, nor is the
attorney obligated to provide representation.
An expanded list of areas in which LRS referral
attorneys practice is available online at www.dcba.org. Those wishing
to search for an attorney online may also use the DCBA's "Find a
Lawyer" directory.
A caller will be asked to explain the situation.
After matching resource information, the caller will be put in contact
with a nearby lawyer who is qualified to provide the necessary legal advice.
The referral fee has been eliminated, and the client may consult with
the attorney up to thirty minutes at no charge. The goal of LRS is to
match each prospective client with the appropriate lawyer.
"When a client meets with an attorney,
all paperwork related to the case should be brought along," advises
Naperville attorney and LRS Chair, Alfred A. Spitzzeri. "The initial
advice one receives may be all that is needed to resolve the problem.
Or, the client and lawyer may decide to pursue the case legally."
The Lawyer Referral Service is a public service of the DuPage County Bar
Association. The telephone hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CT, Monday
through Friday. The LRS is also available online 24 hours per day, 7 days
a week. Visit www.dcba.org and click on "Find a Lawyer."
