INSURANCE INDUSTRY VETERAN AND CBA PAST PRESIDENT DAN COTTER JOINS BUTLER RUBIN AS A PARTNER
CHICAGO, June 26, 2015 – Daniel A. Cotter, a long-time insurance lawyer and Immediate Past President of the Chicago Bar Association, joins Butler Rubin Saltarelli & Boyd LLP as a partner providing insurance regulatory services effective July 16, 2015. With more than 25 years of experience in both private practice and in-house capacities, Cotter most recently was Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary for Fidelity Life Association. He is a recognized leader in the Chicago community, having served as President of The Chicago Bar Association (2014-2015) and Treasurer of The Chicago Bar Foundation (2009-2011).

Cotter began his legal career as an associate at Lord, Bissell & Brook (now Locke Lord) after working for many years as an accountant then paralegal at CNA Insurance in Chicago. He later returned to CNA as Director & Counsel. Cotter also worked in legal capacities at Unitrin Services Company, Argo Group, Lindemann LLC and Korrey Cotter Heather & Richardson.
His history of service to the bar and community also includes serving in leadership roles with the John Marshall Alumni Association, Monmouth College Board of Trustees, and as Chair of Lawyers Lend-A-Hand to Youth (2010-2014). Cotter currently serves as an Adjunct Professor for The John Marshall Law School. A graduate of Monmouth College, he received his law degree from The John Marshall Law School, summa cum laude.
