Paul is survived by Joyce, his wife of 61 years, whom he married on Nov. 19, 1949; also by his six children, Paul Jr. (Janet) of Lisle, Thomas of Coeur d'Alene, ID, Mary Malnar (Jim) of Naperville, Suzanne Shanahan (Matthew) of Naperville, Stephen (Heidi) of Hood River, OR, and Mark (Mary Ann) of Wauwatosa, WI; 14 grandchildren, Eric, Jeremy, Tiffni, Jamie, Blair, Brittany, Daniel, Grant, Erin, Madeline, Matthew, Cara, Kelsey, and Savana; four great-grandchildren, Zoe, Lily, Ally, and Henry; numerous nieces and nephews; a multitude of great-nieces and nephews; other family, friends, and Max, Paul and Joyce's loyal dog. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his seven siblings and their spouses: Jack and Margaret, Mary and Al Williams, Peter and Jane, Leo and Marion, Margaret and James Krakora, Grace and Edward Muldoon and Jerry and Helen. Paul, a lifelong learner, graduated from Our Lady Help of Christians Elementary School in 1937, and attended St. Mel and St. Patrick's High Schools, graduating from the latter in 1941. After graduation he enlisted in the Navy where he served as a pilot during World War II. Paul flew Hellcats off the aircraft carrier Sargent Bay in Pacific Theater action, participated in the invasion of Okinawa and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Upon his return, he attended Quincy College and then went on to receive his law degree from DePaul University College of Law in 1950. He then became a special agent for the FBI in Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Chicago, until he began practicing law in 1955. Paul practiced law in Geneva, Chicago, Park Ridge and Wheaton, IL until he retired in 2000. He remained "Of Counsel" to McLennon & McFadden, Ltd., Chicago after "retirement". It was said of Paul that he practiced law as though it were an opportunity given him by God and the Illinois Supreme Court to help his fellow man. Friends and family repeatedly turned to him for help and advice. He never refused. On March 18, 2003, his friend, Professor Michael Devitt, and the University of San Diego School of Law dedicated their prestigious moot court competition to Paul, and it still bears his name. Paul will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial Mass will be held at SS. Peter & Paul Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. with a reception at the church immediately following the Mass.
