 nies holding the bag.  Charles Wentworth has spent the last three years pr
 osecuting and defending against mechanics liens on behalf of lenders\, con
 tractors\, and their assignees.  In this presentation he will describe var
 ious issues that came up related to the Illinois Mechanics Lien Act\, incl
 uding how to protect contractors and factoring companies where the account
  receivable underlying the lien has been assigned\, whether the buyer unde
 r contract for a property is a Section 1 owner\, who attorney's fees may b
 e charged against under Section 17\, and how to protect contractors from a
 ttempts by trustees and other creditors of bankrupt developers from clawin
 g-back payments that were made before the bankruptcy filing.\nBio:  Charle
 s Wentworth is a sole practitioner in Glen Ellyn where he practices commer
 cial\, property\, and appellate litigation.  After graduating from the SJ 
 Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah\, he clerked for Chief Ju
 stice John Broderick of the New Hampshire Supreme Court.  He was then a li
 tigation associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Chicago before opening his o
 ffice three years ago.  Charles is also active in the DuPage County and Il
 linois State Bar Associations\, where he frequently writes and speaks abou
 t the law.
