2012 Lawyer of the Year

Attorney Gerald A. Cassioppi of Naperville has been named Lawyer of the Year by the DuPage County Bar Association.  The award was presented in recognition of his excellent capacity as General Counsel and his dedication to reworking the DCBA bylaws.  

According to outgoing DCBA President Colleen McLaughlin, "Gerry has been an incredible asset this year to our Board of Directors and to me personally. As issues arose, particularly when emotions ran high, he was always able to bring focus and perspective to all our discussions. As President, I could not have asked for a better 'sounding board.' Gerry's experience with other non-profits, organizations and his knowledge of the changing laws in this area was tremendously helpful throughout the year; particularly when we took on the task of completely revising our bylaws. That project involved a huge time commitment on Gerry's part and our organization owes him a debt of gratitude for his commitment to getting the job done."

Cassioppi is a partner at Nyberg & Cassioppi, LLC in Naperville, Illinois. He served as Associate General Counsel for the Dupage County Bar Association's Board of Directors in 2010-2011 and General Counsel in 2011-2012.  He was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the 2012-2013 term.   

Cassioppi has extensive legal and business experience and is a Certified Public Accountant.  He has corporate experience as In-house Counsel, and in private practice has provided legal counsel to a wide range of businesses, from Fortune 100 to start-up and rapid growth companies.  Cassioppi provides counsel to businesses and business owners for commercial transactions, executive compensation, specialized contracts, acquisitions and divestitures, employee benefits, real estate contracts and leases and has represented companies regarding board of directors, shareholders and other corporate governance matters.
