Topic: An Overview of the County’s Ethics Ordinance and Related Processes

The speakers will give a brief overview of the history, scope, and application of DuPage County’s Ethics Ordinance.

Gerald Cassioppi has extensive legal and business experience and is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He has provided legal counsel to a wide range of businesses, from Fortune 100 to start-up and rapid growth companies. He specializes in commercial transactions, executive compensation, employee benefits, compliance, and has represented companies regarding board of directors, shareholder and other corporate governance matters. Mr. Cassioppi is also the present Chairman of the DuPage County Ethics Commission, a current member of the DCBA Board and past General Counsel of the DCBA.  


Rick Veenstra is Deputy Chief of the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office. He provides legal support to the county government serving a population of nearly 1 million residents.  Mr. Veenstra serves as legal counsel and adviser to the Chairman of the DuPage County Board and to the Board and its committees and as counsel to independent county agencies and elected county officers.  Mr. Veenstra is responsible for governmental and legislative affairs on behalf of the State’s Attorney.
