4:30-6:00pm: POST-COURT / PRE-SHOW RECEPTION
the Seventh Circuit program concludes, we will be heading across the street to
John Marshall Law School for an “Oktoberfest” reception where Professor Brian Clauss will
introduce attendees to the Veterans Clinic program he oversees and provide a
tour of the facilities prior to joining students and faculty for John
Marshall’s Community Clinic Showcase.
6:30-8:00pm: "LIFE AFTER INNOCENCE" RECEPTION AT SECOND CITY, 1608 N WELLS
A cash bar and refreshments will be available starting at 6:30,
giving attendees a chance to relax and check out both the history of Chicago’s
most renowned theater and the “Life After Innocence” program at Loyola
University Chicago School of Law.

10:30am-Noon: THE TECHNOLOGY GAME, IS WINTER COMING TO THE LEGAL
Former ISBA President and ABA Delegate John Thies, together with
Chicago-Kent Professor Ronald Staudt (Director of the Center for Access to
Justice and Technology), lead a spirited discussion on the ways in which
technology is effecting the practice of law, looking at the good and the bad,
ethical problems and public service opportunities. PRMCLE pending approval.
12:30-2:00pm: THE FUTURE OF LEGAL PRACTICE (LUNCHEON WITH BAR
Keynote speakers, Justice Ann Jorgensen, ISBA President Vincent
Cornelius, and ABA Executive Director Jack Rives discuss the Future of
Legal Practice and the Role of Bar Associations in that Future.
2:15-3:45pm: COMEDYSPORTZ IMPROVISATION AND COMMUNICATION WORKSHOP
For those who want to learn how improvisation can improve
communication skills and those whose introduction to The Second City left them
wanting to try it themselves, this introductory class is presented by the folks
from CSZ Chicago (ComedySportz). PRMCLE pending approval.

SERVICE: REMEMBERING WHY YOU WENT TO LAW SCHOOL

Director, and Lisa Colpoys, ILAO Executive Director, lead a discussion on the
importance of public service for lawyers, our professional obligations and the
importance of pro bono work in fostering attorney wellness, including a
discussion on the roles of the Public Interest Law Institute and Illinois Legal

We end the program
with a happy hour in celebration of this year’s Bar Association Volunteer Week
(October 24-28, 2016), introducing attendees to PILI, ILAO, and Chicago Kent’s
Center for Access to Justice & Technology.
